Stéphane Romero was born in 1972 in St. Martin d’Hères in the Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. After the completion of his military service, he moved to St. Tropez when he was 21 years old. It was at this time that he began to learn the traditional Tropézienne cuisine of southeastern France and his passion for the restaurant business developed. After six years in St. Tropez, Stéphane spent six months working as a chef in a restaurant on the Caribbean island of St. Martin. When the summer season was over, he decided to join his twin brother in Paris in 1999.

Stéphane started his own restaurant La Belle Histoire in the Marais district of the 4th arrondissement. His flourishing restaurant was known to locals and tourists alike for its warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. Stéphane enjoyed getting to know his customers and made sure each person’s experience in his restaurant was memorable. His reputation as personable and charming is well-deserved.

Between the sale of his restaurant in March 2006 and his arrival in Santa Barbara at the end of that year, Stéphane worked as a manager at the Costes restaurant Georges above the Pompidou Museum. His multifarious experience in the restaurant business has adequately prepared him to exquisitely prepare virtually any dish his clients may desire.
